Music Ministry

"O come, let us sing for joy to the LORD, Let us shout joyfully to the rock of our salvation."

PSALM 95:1

JOIN US AS WE WORSHIP GOD THROUGH MUSIC

“…Experience proves that, next to the Word of God, only music deserves being extolled as the mistress and governess of the feelings of the human heart…A greater praise than this we cannot imagine.”

(Martin Luther, 1538)

Here at First Baptist Church of Troy, AL we seek to glorify Jesus Christ and worship Him in spirit and truth, just as the Bible declares. Each time the body of Christ gathers is an opportunity to tell of the wonders of our God! We also believe that worship is more than just music. It’s a lifestyle, an attitude, a response, personal and corporate. In our Sunday service, we hope to lead you into a time of true worship through prayer, study of Scripture, and yes, music. We invite you to join us as we offer our praise to the Lord as a personal expression and as a corporate response to who He is and what He has done. Our Celebration Choir and Orchestra leads each week as we lift up the name of Jesus Christ!

There are numerous opportunities to get involved…singing, playing an instrument, leading and teaching children, audio/video and computer operators, and many more areas of service.

Here are a few ways you can get involved:

Celebration Choir and Orchestra

Children's Choir

Preschool Choir

Adult Vocal Ensembles

- All talent and skill levels are welcomed to participate

- No prior experience and no audition is required

- A commitment to faithful participation in rehearsals, weekend services, and special events

Rehearsals are on Wednesday nights in the choir room beginning at 6:55 PM in the Choir Room. Please join us.

The First Baptist Celebration Orchestra is the primary worship-leading instrumental group on Sunday mornings. The Celebration Orchestra is comprised of stringed and wind (brass and woodwind) instruments. The orchestra also faithfully leads 52 Sunday mornings each year, and also at all special events through out the year. Musicians and instrumentalists are always needed! If you play an instrument, please let us know. We would love to find a place for you to serve using your God-given talents.

We also have Adult Vocal Ensembles that are based from the above groups. We have a number of different ensemble groups for men, women, and mixed adults. These groups help lead our worship at various times throughout the year. In addition, these groups also sing and perform at various community events in Troy and the surrounding area.

CHILDREN'S CHOIR

Three year olds through sixth grade comprise the scope of our graded choir ministry at First Baptist Troy. Each age appropriate choir enjoys small group enrichment each week. They play musical games and learn about God at the same time. The goal is to teach and train these children to be servants of God. The groups meet in the children’s education building and has recently been refurbished for these children to have a beautiful, clean, well equipped, well supervised opportunity to learn, grow and serve the Lord through music. These children and their leaders sing several times throughout the year in Sunday morning worship as well as present a full-length musical once a year. The K-6th grade groups also present an annual VBS musical.  They meet on Sunday nights at 5:00.

PRESCHOOL CHOIR

Four and five year olds are not too young to learn how to “sing to the Lord." It is impressive how God can use these young children to create emotion and wonder when we hear them sing. When they come to the second floor of our education building on Sunday nights they come to a well-prepared, fun and exciting time. This group also participates in morning worship several times each year. They meet on Sunday nights at 5:00.
